A downloadable game for Windows

Welcome to Perfectly Intuitive Simple Software! This was my first completed project after undergrad and was planned to be the first of many. More than anything, this game was a huge learning experience for me. As a result, it's a bit rough around the edges and a little all over the place.
Is it fun? Maybe...
Is it frustrating? Probably...
Am I proud of it? Definitely!
I learned a lot from working on this game, and it motivated me to continue pursuing game design passionately and intentionally. For that, it has earned a special place in my heart. <3

But... You're probably not here to listen to me rant about my game design journey, you're here to suffer play through my game! But hold on just a second! There are a few things you should know before you get started:

1. This game was designed as an event for my fellow graduate students in the 2024 WSU SMB "Lab Olympics". It is a satire of obtuse and convoluted bioinformatics software that you have to struggle with for the sake of your research. The game is meant to be equal parts silly, annoying, and puzzling.

2. Because the game was built for biology graduate students, it expects you to know some things that aren't exactly common knowledge. Here is a cheat sheet for those things, just in case you're not up to date on your biochemistry:

  • Arginine, Histidine, and Lysine are positively charged amino acids
  • A, C, G, T, and U are shorthand for the nucleotides Adenine, Cytosine, Guanine, Thymine, and Uracil. Adenine and Guanine are classified as purines. The rest are classified as pyrimidines.
  • If there's anything else that seems confusing, it's probably supposed to be, lol.

3. The only official way to quit the game is at the very end. This is mostly by design, and partly because I'm lazy. The game still quits gracefully if closed from the taskbar or if you press alt+f4.

And that's it! Best of luck! Watch out for data gremlins, and try to enjoy yourself in between the fits of rage. ;)
